10 Best Jobs for Introverts
No matter what your parents and teachers might have told you all through your growing years, you can’t become good at any job just by trying hard. Some jobs are specifically meant for the outgoing sort while others are more suited to the introvert. So for all the introverts reading this, here are some jobs worth considering.
1. Programmer
Software developers and programmers consider the computer their best friend and can happily lose themselves in a mindboggling maze of codes. Socializing is the last thing on their mind. So for all the introverts out there, this could be a wonderful career.
2. Engineer
It’s not just the software engineers who prefer machines to humans for company but almost the entire breed of engineers. It doesn’t mean that an engineer doesn’t have to interact with anyone, just that interactions take up a minor part of their job.
3. Researcher
Research could be done on a million topics but there is one trait shared by researchers – their ability to shut themselves in their labs or rooms and lose themselves in the depths of research. Needless to say, research could be a very good career option for introverts.
4. Translator
While introverts can’t be interpreters, they do make very good translators. Give them a book written in an alien language and they will happily translate it for you. An extrovert would die just at the thought of sitting alone and translating a 500 page book.
5. Writer
There isn’t much difference between no. 4 and no. 5 except that in the second case, the work is original. They both have to spend hours at their desk or laptops all by themselves and keep writing. Apparently, introverts can do great at this job if they possess impeccable writing skills.
6. Painter
An art connoisseur knows that masterpieces aren’t made in a day. A painter might spend weeks and months, brush in hand working on a canvas before him. For people who are creative and like to keep to themselves, a painter’s job would be ideal.
7. Analyst
An introvert could very well be an institutional research analyst or a financial analyst or any other analyst for that matter. The only requirement is an analytic bent of mind and the ability to spend hours poring over data.
8. Veterinarian
Spending time with animals is not usually considered socializing, but they can ultimately become one’s clients. An alternate career to being a doctor, the field of veterinary science might prove engaging for introverts who have a genuine desire to help the animal species.
9. Driver
Ferrying goods or passengers and driving a hundred miles without opening one’s mouth could be a boon for introverts. All it takes is getting comfortable behind the wheel and driving on.
10. Accountant
There can’t be two opinions on the fact that an accountant’s job is excruciatingly boring. An extrovert would jump to his death if had to crunch numbers for even a day. This is beyond doubt, one of the best jobs available for introverts.
