5 Tips to Express Your Opinion Without Hurting Others
Every individual has their own opinion about everything; everyone wants to express their own opinion which is important and a correct thing to do. But there is a certain manner to do it so that you put forth your point without offending anyone. Here are 5 tips to express your opinion without hurting others.
1. Be polite
If you want to express your opinion, don’t keep it to yourself do it in a manner in which you will be heard and you will be respected. Be polite and say what you want to, be clear about what you want and your opinion would never be misjudged. Express your thoughts in a manner that everyone understands it well and considers it but without hurting or offending anyone.
2. Don’t be very blunt
People often sound blunt and rude when they give their opinion about something, they feel it will show that their opinion is very important and this is the only way in which people will pay attention to it. But this does’t work, just because you have an opinion of your own doesn’t mean that everyone agrees to it. Be calm and patient, but firm on your opinion and it shall surely be heard.
3. Don’t get personal
One should not get personal or use words that others would find insulting while expressing your opinion. Being over critical or judgmental won’t do any good. Stick to your point about the situation, show respect and consideration. Talk about what you think is correct and what you want to say rather than pointing out whose opinion is incorrect according to you.
4. Don’t be rigid
When you express your opinion have an open mind, don’t be rigid. If you have your own opinion don’t forget that others will have theirs too, and if you have the right to do it so do others. It is not necessary that what you think is correct; even the others would think the same, they may not accept or agree to it. But this doesn’t mean you get offended and become aggressive and show your anger, you may end up hurting others.
5. Be respectful towards other person’s opinion
Try to show that you respect the other person’s opinion, appreciate it if possible because that will make the other person more attentive towards your opinion. Then start off with what your opinion is and what you think is correct, but choose your words carefully.
