5 Ways To Find Peace Of Mind
Peace of mind is also known as a state of mind which keeps you relaxed and stress free. “Now we know that it is virtually impossible to attain that state of mind all the time because of the innumerable issues that we face in life on a daily basis. But there are ways you can find peace of mind on a daily basis”, said Helen, a 28-year old IT consultant who also attends study classes in the evening to further her career. Let’s look at what she had to say when we asked her, “How do you find peace of mind?”
1. Learn to forgive
“There is really no point if you keep grudges against everyone, all the time. How many people are you going to despise in life?”, asked Helen who mentioned that she had regular arguments with a lot of her coworkers because of the nature of her work. “To find your peace of mind, you have to learn to move on and forgive people who might have been rude to you in daily life”, she added.
2. Ignore negative thoughts
“Negative thoughts and a negative attitude have no place in my daily routine”, said Helen who believed that even a single negative thought can pin you down and keep you frustrated for days altogether. To find peace of mind, we suggest that you too remove negative thoughts and learn to induce positivity in your thinking regularly.
3. Leave the past behind
Are you really going to be able to change your past by worrying about it? We don’t think so. “You will never be able to find peace of mind if you keep worrying about your past. The past is gone and worrying about it will only ruin your present and your future. That’s why, I never think too much about what happened last week, or last month. I carry a take-it-as-it-comes attitude”, said a beaming Helen.
4. Calm down and meditate
“You don’t need to be an ascetic to meditate. Simply find a quite spot in your house, sit straight and find your peace of mind by focusing on your breath and clearing your thoughts. This is really only a 10-minute exercise that I believe everyone should do to find peace of mind”, advised Helen. We would like to add that if you are going to meditate to find peace of mind, try enhancing the experience by playing soft and soothing music and lighting exotic aromatic candles to make your environment truly peaceful.
5. Learn to be satisfied
One of our main problems in life which stops us from finding peace of mind is the thought of “what more can I get”. Whether it is money, wealth, happiness, pleasure or any other materialistic or non-materialistic aspect in our lives, we always want more. To find peace of mind, you will have to learn to be satisfied with what you have. “In the beginning of each year, I set goals and decide if I want to make any big purchases or big decisions. Other than those, I really don’t ask for much in life”, said Helen, who makes sure that the things important enough to yearn for are only those things that actually matter in her life.
