7 Signs that Your Colleagues are Ignoring You
If you are feeling left out from everything that your colleagues do together at work and after work, they could be ignoring you for very specific reasons. Check out these signs which may signal that you are being ignored by your colleagues.
1. You are not greeted
One of the first signs of knowing whether your colleagues are ignoring you or not is by observing how they greet you. If everyone else around you gets a chirpy morning greeting and you are treated as if you don’t exist, you are maybe be ignored.
2. You see pictures of your colleagues enjoying post work drinks on Facebook
Discovering that your colleagues got together for drinks, and you came to know of it by seeing their pictures on Facebook, then it is a bad sign because you should too be in those pictures. The fact that you were not invited for drinks can be a sign that your colleagues are deliberately ignoring you and don’t want your company after work hours.
3. You get to know about upcoming events at your workplace only through official communication
Colleagues tend to know about upcoming office events or news before they get published through official communication. If you get to know about an upcoming party or meeting at your workplace by reading an official email from your manager or by scanning the newsletter, chances are that you are not in loop with what your colleagues are doing or talking about.
4. You never get the credit you deserve
Have you ever noticed that the credit you deserve for your work has gone to someone else? Do you never get appreciated by your manager or boss even if you give good ideas? This could be happening to you because your colleagues may have teamed up against you. There could be more than what meets the eye and your colleagues could be playing office politics to make sure that you are ignored.
5. You are not delegated any responsibilities in a team project
It is easy to find out if your colleagues are ignoring you or not when you are involved in a team project. If you observe that everyone is being delegated some responsibility except you, it could be a sign that your colleagues are giving you the cold shoulder. They could also be avoiding you if they don’t accept any of your ideas, suggestions or any other creative contribution in day to day work life.
6. Office gossip reaches you after everyone else knows about it
If office gossip and rumors reach you only after everyone else at your workplace already know about it, you could take it as a sign of being ignored by your colleagues. Close and well bonded colleagues usually share such things with each other before it passes on to other people’s ears.
7. Your colleagues behave very formally with you
Colleagues who are close to each other would generally talk to each other in a very informal, casual tone. If your colleagues talk to you in a very formal and reserved tone, they could be doing so to ignore you and interact with you in a limited way.
