How To Organize Yourself And Save Time In Daily Life ?
We were on the hunt for people who could give us tips on how to organize yourself and save time when we caught up with Mathew, 36, an executive with a global IT firm. Mathew knows the value of organizing to save time and tells us top 5 secrets that he puts into practice in his personal life.
1. Always plan your daily routine one day ahead
“I really don’t believe in planning my entire week at a time. However, I’ve found that if I simply plan my daily routine one day ahead, it helps me to get organized. I plan for Tuesday after dinner on Monday night. As simple as that” exclaims Mathew.
2. Make a to-do list every weekend
We all have little chores to take care of every week. Whether it is paying the bills or going to the bank, delaying chores can set you back on your schedule. “I make a to-do list every weekend which must be completed in the coming week. The list comprises of chores that I need to get done to get myself organized. The list usually has things like take the shirts to the laundry, pay the electricity bill, buy a new pair of shoes for office, or go to the bank to update my account”, chuckles Mathew. To organize yourself and save time, heed Mathew’s advice and make a list of your tiny chores before they pile up on you.
3. Keep your living space tidy
“I hate to give this tip because it is a bit painful for those who like to keep their rooms or homes messy. The truth is that no matter how used to you are to function in messy and unkempt surroundings, you will always waste time looking for things and getting yourself organized”, says Mathew. We second Mathew’s advice because messy apartments or homes can be a pain to live in.
4. Be an early riser
“I used to put my alarm on snooze at least 3-4 times every day until I had to rush out of bed and then rush to work. Unfortunately, that’s not the best way to go about organizing yourself and saving time”, says Mathew, who makes a point to wake up early. “Waking up early allows you to organize your living space, your bag or purse, your files and other nitty gritty things around the house before you leave for work. This definitely helps to save time”, he adds.
5.Keep your paperwork organized
“One of the biggest problems about organization and time management that most of us face in our personal lives is handling and archiving paperwork. I make sure that I put away each bill or important correspondence that I receive from utility companies or any other service provider in the right place”, advices Mathew who hates it when he has to spend time looking for a past bill or other miscellaneous paperwork. We fully agree with his tip on how to organize yourself and save time. Don’t you?
