How to Use Time Wisely?
A day has 24 hours. This is a universally known fact but how productively do we spend time in a day is a question that often has no concrete answer. This is not just for one day but for several days or may be several years. The way we spend our days defines the way our life will be spent. Being one of the most priceless commodities, time neither waits for anyone nor comes back for you to compensate for what you have done. Sadly, the realization usually dawns late, much later than you can actually repair.
Self help books can throw open a universe of ideas to help you spend time wisely. A few may actually appeal to you, those that make you instantly drawn towards them for attempting them. However, how many times have you actually gone ahead and done them or maintained them for at least a few days. The answer is mostly negative. Does the problem lie in self help books? Partly yes; because no self help book talks to an individual specifically. They are filled with a common set of things to do that appeal to the world at large but not to an individual personality.
The answer to what you want to do in life and every moment of your day lies in you. You may want to interrogate yourself to arrive at that answer rather than enquiring some self help tool that knows the last thing about you. The tool is useful to help you understand this simple meaning in life and may not be the right advisor on what needs to be done to spend time wisely. Well, the question of what can be done to spend time productively may evoke several answers from different sources.
Interestingly and paradoxically, some of us do not know what has to be done with time that is available every day and some others pray for an extra few hours. This is a paradox because the number of hours in a day is the same for everyone. The first category of people probably do not have much things to do about and should, as a matter of fact, identify tasks that will please them physically and emotionally. The second category of people should take a stock of their routine and try to prune things that are unnecessary or simply procrastinate them until they have time for it.
Often, all this is easier said than done. Some simple steps to ensure you spend your time wisely can revolve around these tips:
1. Evaluate your routine activities.
2. Quantify and qualify every hour and activity.
3. Devise a timetable or an interesting plan to satisfy all your needs during the day. Ridiculous it may sound; it helps in the long run.
4. And lastly, do not wait for the right time to begin this exercise.
